Common Name: Pied-billed Grebe
Description: Small, brown diving duck-like bird, with a fluffy whitish rump. It has a chicken-like bill that is encircled by a dark ring in the summer and a dark throat patch in the summer. Commonly seen on lakes and ponds across North America, but rarely seen flying. Dives under water for food and to allude enemies, but sometimes sinks into the water from the middle.
