Common Name: Western Grebe

Description: Medium sized black and white water bird with a long, swanlike neck and a long, greenish yelllow bill. Black on top of head, back of neck, and body; white on front of neck and underside. Very similar to Clark's Grebe; the black cap on the Western Grebe's face extends to just below the eyes, while on Clark's Grebe, the black stops above the eyes. Usually seen on water; dives for food.
